As our CRC is earlier this year than in previous years, now is the time to think about submitting projects for the 2011 ASHRAE Region VI Technology Awards Program. Submissions will be due on March 1st. To be eligible for consideration at the Regional level, a project must have won a first place award in its category at the Chapter level. The regional submission can be in either the short or long format. More information on formatting can be found at:

http://www.ashrae.org/technologyawards

Awards are to be submitted in an electronic format (preferably PDF or Word), and are to be sent to Corey Metzger, CTTC RVC for Region VI. Please contact Corey or your local Chapter CTTC Chair with any questions on this program.

The Society Level CTT Committee is in the process of developing a pilot program of presentations called ASHRAE Hot Topics. These presentations will be distributed online to chapters to use for meetings or technical sessions. The presentations will be approximately 45 minutes in length and will be focused on disseminating information on new or changing issues. Specific examples would be ASHRAE Standards (62.1, 90.1, 189.1, etc.), new technologies, case studies, etc. These presentations are expected to have a shelf life of one to two years. The intent of this project is to make timely, relevant information available to all chapters, in an engaging format with very high quality speakers. The length of the presentations is such that it could be used to meet requirements for continuing education. The first of these presentations was taped in Des Moines on Tuesday, September 28th. Kent Peterson presented on ASHRAE Standard 90.1. The final version of this presentation should be available for distrubution later this year. Watch for more information in Insights, or on the ASHRAE website. Please direct any questions or comments to your CTTC RVC. We will be looking for feedback on the program once the first presentation is available for viewing. Thank you.
